Annette Rupprecht

Annette Rupprecht has maintained a private conservation studio in New York specializing in Old Master paintings since 1995.  Recently, she completed a systematic examination of The Leiden Collection paintings and produced comprehensive dossiers of digital color and infrared images and examination reports for each.  These dossiers were used for reference by The Leiden Collection catalogue authors and are the basis for the majority of the catalogue’s technical summaries.  Prior to opening her studio, Annette restored Italian paintings from the Kress Collection with Dianne Modestini as the first Samuel H. Kress Fellow at the NYU Conservation Center in New York and Dutch and Flemish paintings with Herbert Lank at the Hamilton Kerr Institute – London Studio.  Annette holds a Fellowship Diploma from the Hamilton Kerr Institute, University of Cambridge and a MA with a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Art Conservation from the Cooperstown Graduate Program.

Each entry in this catalogue includes a technical summary, which documents the materials and techniques used by the artists in the creation of the paintings, as well as any changes and any documented treatments. These summaries are based on the contents of examination reports, treatment reports, analytical reports, and technical images compiled by a number of different contributors. The majority of the examination reports and technical summaries in the first edition of the online catalogue were prepared by Annette Rupprecht. Technical summaries prepared for the second and third (current) editions of catalogue were written by Joanna Dunn, Kristin deGhetaldi, Sophie Scully, and Gerrit Albertson. The current edition of the catalogue cites these authors’ contributions in the respective summaries.
