Michiel Franken has been an art historical researcher for the Rembrandt Research Project from 1989 until 1999. He worked at the RKD (Netherlands Institute for Art History), The Hague from 1999 until 2021, from 2006 as a curator of Technical Documentation & Rembrandt and the Rembrandt School. As a Research Associate at the RKD, he is currently researching the History of Conservation and Technical Research of Paintings in the Netherlands during the period 1900-1930.
