Walter Liedtke was the curator of European Paintings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York from 1979-2015.  A published scholar on Johannes Vermeer and the Delft School, Dr. Liedtke devoted much of his life to the study to works like those in the Leiden Collection. He held an MA from Brown University and a PhD from The Courtauld Institute of Art, London. Dr. Leidtke organized several major exhibitions, including “Rembrandt/Not Rembrandt in The Metropolitan Museum of Art” (1995-96), “Vermeer and the Delft School” (2001), and “The Age of Rembrandt” (2007). His numerous publications include Architectural Paintings in Delft (1982), Dutch Paintings in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (2007), and Vermeer: The Complete Paintings (2008).
