Wayne E. Franits is Professor of Art History at Syracuse University, New York. His most recent books are: The Paintings of Dirck van Baburen ca. 1592/93–1624: Catalogue Raisonné (2013), Vermeer (2015) and The Ashgate Research Companion to Dutch Art of the Seventeenth Century (2016). Dr. Franits also contributed an essay and individual entries to the catalogue of the recent international exhibition on the art of the seventeenth-century Dutch painter, Godefridus Schalcken. He is currently completing a book on Schalcken’s London period (16921696).
