Louvre Abu Dhabi – The Slow Development of a Collection
The result of a partnership between France and the United Arab Emirates, the museum celebrated last 11 November the first anniversary of its opening with over one million visitors (40% of whom were locals). While attendance numbers are in line with expectations – and will undoubtedly be bolstered by the recently opened exhibition of Dutch painting – the institution’s primary challenge remains the strengthening of its own collection.
