Marjorie (Betsy) Wieseman was appointed Curator and Head of the Department of Northern European Paintings at The National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. in 2019. Previously Dr. Wieseman was the Paul J. and Edith Ingalls Vignos Jr. Curator of European Paintings and Sculpture, 1500–1800 at the Cleveland Museum of Art from 2016 to 2019 and the Curator of Dutch and Flemish Painting at The National Gallery, London, from 2006 to 2016. She has curated and coordinated a number of exhibitions on Dutch and Flemish art of the seventeenth century, including Vermeer’s Women: Secrets and Silence (2011).
